METERCOVE — PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: October 22, 2026
1. WHO WE ARE AND WHAT THIS POLICY COVERS
MeterCove ("the App") is a manual utility meter reading and consumption-tracking Android application identified in its current application configuration with the developer name SHAN FILLING STATION ("we," "us" or "our"). The configured country is the United States (USA).
This notice describes the behavior of the reviewed MeterCove Android app version 1.0.0. It covers information entered into the App, local data processing, optional internet images, file exports and backups, and user-initiated support messages.
2. INFORMATION YOU CHOOSE TO ENTER
To use MeterCove, you may create and manage: - Property names and optional descriptions. - Meter names, utility types (such as electricity, water and gas), optional location labels, measurement units and notes. - Dated and timed meter readings, numeric register values, comments, meter reset/rollover selections, and reading history. - Optional per-unit rates, fixed charges, tax percentages, currency selections and historical pricing settings. - Local preferences, including app theme, onboarding completion and display country.
The App calculates consumption, daily averages, cost estimates, comparisons and in-app high-usage observations from the information saved in your local records. It does not automatically access utility-company accounts or connect to physical or smart meters.
You are not required to create an account or provide a name, phone number, email address, payment card number or banking credentials to use its core features. Any personal information you voluntarily type into a property name, location label or note will be stored as part of that record on your device.
3. LOCAL STORAGE AND HOW INFORMATION IS USED
MeterCove stores property, meter and reading information in an on-device SQLite database. Lightweight app preferences are stored in Android app preferences. These records are used to display your data, calculate interval usage and estimated costs, create reports and support the editing, deletion, export and restoration features you choose to use.
The reviewed version does not automatically upload your meter records or notes to a developer-operated server. No account sign-in, advertising network, developer-operated analytics service, online payment gateway or automatic utility-provider integration is present in the reviewed project. Core manual tracking and reporting functionality remains usable without a network connection.
4. OPTIONAL INTERNET PHOTOGRAPHS AND THIRD-PARTY REQUESTS
Some interface sections request decorative photographs from images.unsplash.com using an image-loading library (Glide). These requests require the Android INTERNET permission and may occur when relevant screens are opened while your device is online.
When an image is requested, the image provider and ordinary network intermediaries may receive technical request information, including your public IP address and routine HTTP connection/request metadata. The App's predefined image URLs do not include your meter readings, property records or notes. The image provider's own privacy practices apply to its processing of those network requests.
Images may be temporarily cached on your device by the image-loading library. If an image cannot load, the App uses a bundled fallback image. You can use the App's essential meter tools without an internet connection.
The App does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, SMS or broad storage access permissions in the reviewed manifest.
5. REPORTS, BACKUPS, RESTORATION AND THIRD-PARTY STORAGE
You may create PDF and CSV reports for selected records and create a JSON backup containing your locally stored properties, meters, readings, notes, pricing settings and selected country. You choose the destination using Android's system document interface.
Exported PDF, CSV and JSON files are readable files and are NOT encrypted by MeterCove. A SHA-256 checksum in the JSON backup helps detect changes to the file; it does not encrypt or password-protect your information. Handle these documents carefully and store them only in locations you trust.
If you choose a cloud-storage folder, document provider, email app or other third-party destination when saving or sharing an export, that provider may receive and process the file according to its own privacy terms. MeterCove does not automatically send exported records to a third party without your chosen destination or action.
When you import a JSON backup, the App reads the selected file, validates its format and integrity, and asks for confirmation before replacing the current on-device records. The restoration process occurs locally.
6. EMAIL SUPPORT
Selecting a contact-support option prepares an email addressed to [email protected] in a compatible email application on your device. You decide whether to send the message. MeterCove does not silently send support emails.
If you send an email, your email provider and the receiving email service will process the message and any personal information you choose to include. We may use a message you send voluntarily to respond to your inquiry. The App itself does not create a separate online support account or transmit meter records automatically as part of opening the email composer.
7. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Local records remain in the App's storage until you edit or delete them, clear all app records, restore a different backup, or remove the App or its storage from your device. Deleting a property may also delete its related meters and readings; the App presents confirmation for destructive operations. You can manage records from the App's meter, property and data-management screens.
Files you previously exported to locations outside the App are not deleted when you remove an App record or uninstall MeterCove. You must delete those copies from their selected destinations yourself. A third-party file or email provider may retain copies according to its own terms.
The reviewed Android manifest disables automatic app data backup, and its data-extraction rules exclude the App's files from supported cloud-backup and device-transfer flows. This does not control copies that you explicitly save through a document provider, nor does it prevent screenshots or manual sharing that you initiate.
Cached online images may remain temporarily in the App's cache until removed by normal cache management, clearing app storage, or uninstalling the App.
Because primary meter records reside on your device rather than in a developer account, we generally cannot view or remotely delete those records. Use the App's local deletion controls or Android's application-storage controls to remove them.
8. SECURITY
The App relies on Android's application sandbox and normal device security mechanisms for local data separation. It does not provide separate end-to-end encryption for its database or exported files. Protect your device with an appropriate screen lock and keep unencrypted report/backup files in a secure location. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. CHILDREN AND SENSITIVE INFORMATION
MeterCove is a general-purpose utility log and does not require children's information. Please avoid placing unnecessary sensitive personal details, passwords, financial-account information or other confidential information in free-text notes or exported reports.
10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's functionality, external services or information-handling practices change. An updated version will identify its revision date. Where required, we will provide appropriate notice in the App or through the published policy location.
